Owner

Kid's Day Daycare

Michelle Patteson has owned Kid’s Day Daycare & Preschool since October 2006. The philosophy and mission of Kid's Day is to serve as a community ministry that provides a Christ-centered, quality education, nurturing the development of the whole child in a secure environment. We believe each child is unique and special with the potential to learn and grow.

Our developmentally appropriate environment is designed to provide learning opportunities that encourage curiosity, creativity, and spontaneity. These experiences are extended and enhanced through the guidance of our staff. As childcare professionals, we understand the importance of the formative, early years of childhood. The valuable experiences and opportunities for first-time achievements that are presented to young children lay the foundation for higher learning.

It is our objective to create a happy, warm, and disciplined environment for our students. Therefore, we will strive to teach manners, fairness, courtesy, and respect for others while being constantly alert to the well-being of our students.

Keagan Miller

Director

Kid's Day Daycare

Keagan is the Director at Kid’s Day, meaning he handles many of the day-to-day operations of the daycare. He has a degree in psychology from Texas A&M, has worked in public schools, and has nearly six years of early childcare experience. He helps maintain our facility’s water well system, maintains the website, digitally files all staff and student records, keeps the facility in compliance with all state inspection laws and Texas Childcare Licensing regulations, manages parent payments through Brightwheel, handles employee payroll and paid time off, and has created much of the digital infrastructure that has helped bring Kid’s Day into a modern digital and online age. He also wrote much of and maintains the parent and employee handbooks, and works to keep every one of the many documents and forms Kid’s Day relies on for its daily operation up to date and current.

In the afternoons, Keagan is privileged to have a class of his own, the After School class, where he enjoys keeping an active role in classroom management. During the summer, Keagan runs the school-age Summer Program, which takes kids on three field trips a week and teaches them about various interesting topics through a variety of fun and exciting projects.

Keagan wrote this bio, and he loves his job.

Rita Smith

Assistant Director

Kid's Day Daycare

Hello! My name is Rita Smith, and I am the Assistant Director here at Kid’s Day. I’m a university graduate with a B.S. in Technology and a minor in Operations Management. Although I had eight years of experience in the fast paced tech industry, I discovered it wasn’t fulfilling my life.

Growing up in a family of teachers, I found that working with children was something I always genuinely loved. In 2022 I decided to take a step towards the childcare industry and work for a non-profit organization, SJRC Texas, as the lead shift supervisor, directly working with youth in helping them overcome their difficult backgrounds. After some time, I took a different approach and aimed to work with a younger demographic, finding myself at Kid’s Day.

At Kid’s Day I gained experience in the classroom before shifting over as the manager, and now as the Assistant Director where I handle the daily activities that regard our staff, parents, and children. I firmly believe that our teachers are the pillars of Kid’s Day, and thus at the forefront, my intention is to ensure our staff is always fully supported so they can focus on providing loving care for our children to grow as Christ-like individuals.

After that focus, I engage with our amazing parents from their start here at Kid’s Day; beginning with prospect tours, then the registration process, and all the way to their child’s first day. Once their child begins, I ensure fluid communication is kept between our parents and teachers regarding their beautiful children. It’s been a blessing working here with such an amazing community of peers and families!

SHAPING YOUNG HEARTS & MIND FOR CHRIST
