OUR CLASSES

INFANT CLASS

6 weeks - 11 months

We provide a safe and nurturing place for your infant.

Our teachers are gentle and patient with each child, giving each one individual attention as well as plenty of stimulating activities such as tummy time, reading, singing, and movement.

We encourage and assist your infant in reaching language, physical, cognitive, social, and emotional milestones for their age.

Meet our Infant teachers below!

Maria Santiago

Hi, my name is Maria Santiago, and I work as a lead teacher in the Infant room. I love working with babies. It's a blessing to watch them grow and learn new milestones. Every day is special, fun, and full of joy. I can't wait to meet your sweet baby!

Background

I have been working at Kid's Day for 17 years now. I have two boys of my own, one is 20 and the other is 15 years-old. They also attended Kid's Day when they were little, and they absolutely loved it. Taking care of kids has always come very naturally to me, and I have learned so much throughout all these years.

Teaching Style and Curriculum Focus

My main focus in the Infant room is to provide a loving and clean environment for our babies to explore in every day. My goal is to create a supportive and engaging room where each child feels valued and loved. We work every day to fulfill each baby's basic needs. Every day is different, but we work on incorporating singing songs, reading books, numbers, colors, and basic baby sign language among other skills.

Uzma Arshad

Hi Parents! My name is Uzma Arshad, but you can also call me Zumi. I am the assistant teacher in the infant classroom. I absolutely love working with our little ones and helping them grow and explore the world around them. Every day is full of learning, laughter, and special moments, and I’m so excited for another wonderful year with your babies!

Background

I’ve been in early childcare for about 4 years now, and I have a diploma in Fine arts. Along with being an assistant teacher in the infant classroom, I’m also a full-time mom at home. Caring for and nurturing little ones is something I’m truly passionate about, and I love creating a warm and engaging environment for them to grow and thrive everyday.

Teaching Style and Curriculum Focus

I strive to support each child’s growth towards developmental milestones through play and interaction. I like to encourage sensory exploration and enhance the early learning experience by providing ever-present gentle and loving support. I assist in maintaining a consistent routine for feeding, diapering, and naps.

WALKER / CRAWLER CLASS

12 months - 17 months

The walker/crawler room is designed for exploration and discovery. We assist your child in developing social skills such as sharing and taking turns. We help them develop their language with a simple curriculum teaching sounds and small words, as well as some baby signs for non-verbal communication.

Our goal is to provide a comfortable atmosphere built on love and trust, allowing your child to explore and learn through organized play. Additionally, they are taught self help skills such as holding their own utensil to feed themselves. Daily reports and weekly lesson plans are provided to inform you of your child's development.

Together, we will create a nurturing and engaging environment where learning and growth happen every day. I look forward to the amazing experiences we will share!

Background

I have lived in Bulverde for 5 years! I have been working in childcare for 1.5 years and previously served as an assistant teacher at another daycare. In addition to my passion for teaching, I am currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity.

Teaching Style and Curriculum Focus

My teaching style focuses on creating a positive and engaging environment where every child feels encouraged to express themselves and interact with their peers. I am dedicated to supporting each child's growth by fostering their skills and knowledge, helping them develop the foundation they need to succeed as they continue to learn and explore.

INTERMEDIATE TWOS CLASS

18 months - 23 months

The Intermediate Twos class is a slight step up from the Walker/Crawler room. In this class, we start to promote more independence and communication skills. The kids no longer use high chairs for meal times and projects, instead sitting in child-sized chairs at a child-sized table. They use utensils to eat, and say a prayer before each meal, and children will usually start using simple words to communicate with their teachers and friends in this room.

We encourage language development in this room by reading to the children frequently, as well as teaching them introductory concepts in circle time each morning. Children also start to express more of an interest in playing cooperatively with friends at this age, and we encourage cooperative and considerate play both in the classroom and on the playground.

I like to all work together as a class for projects and class activities so the kids feel involved and don’t get off track easily.

I decided to go back into teaching because it is something I really love.

When your child is in my room, they are treated with love and kindness. Having taught Inclusion classroom for so long I always meet my kids where they are. Goals for your child will be based on their abilities.

Tricia McDaris

Background

I have been at Kid's Day since August of 2023. Prior to that, I spent 21 years at home raising my 5 children and caring for infants in foster care. Before having children, I worked for 9 years in the public schools, teaching 2nd-4th grades. My degree is in Elementary Education.

Teaching Style and Curriculum Focus

I enjoy creating a nurturing environment where children feel safe. I love hugs and the chance to talk with kids about what they are interested in. I love teaching the Bible and tapping into kids' ability to memorize large sections of Scripture. My daughter is fairly proficient in ASL, and she has taught me some! I love incorporating sign into Bible verses and songs! Beyond that, my focus is mainly making sure kids are ready for kindergarten. I love teaching language arts and cultivating a love of literature.

BEFORE & AFTER SCHOOL

5 - 12 year olds

Our Before and After School Program begins by transporting your child to Bill Brown Elementary, Arlon Seay Elementary, Johnson Ranch Elementary, or Rahe Bulverde Elementary, then picking them up after school in a Kid's Day bus driven and monitored by two of our teachers.

We assist the children with their homework, as well as give them an opportunity for outside play and structured indoor play. We also review character-building curriculum such as how to handle situations with their peers in a positive manner. Students can be dropped off at Kid's Day as early as 6:00 AM and then picked up at or before 6:30 PM.

While we definitely have a daily focus or theme for curriculum (usually based around the nearest holiday, or field trip), I try to let the kids tell me what they’re interested in, and teach what I can about the subjects they have questions about. I also try to be very hands-on and project based whenever possible, focusing on creation and what the kids can learn from the act of making something.
